Lincoln Archaeology Group

ABOUT Us

We are a friendly and motivated group of volunteers who work together on archaeology projects in Lincoln and around Lincolnshire. We come from a wide variety of ages, backgrounds and experiences.

What do we do?

We work with local communities and professional archaeologists to investigate, record and research all things archaeological. Individuals are encouraged and supported to pursue special interests such as Roman ceramics or medieval metalwork. We liase with other archaeology and heritage groups locally and nationally to exchange ideas and experience.

Want to get involved?

Everyone is welcome to join us. We currently have over a hundred volunteers of all ages, abilities and experience working on a variety of projects. Membership is £10 per year and this gives access to all our excavations, finds processing sessions and  specialist talks.

LAG is a member of The Council for British Archaeology (CBA) and The Medieval Pottery Research Group(MPRG). Our Chair sits on the Archaeology Committee for the Society for Lincolnshire History & Archaeology (SLHA) and we work with The Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS). We have a partnership agreement with Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) in Lincoln where we are based.

If any member would like a copy of the minutes from the last committee meeting , please get in touch.
